This week I had the pleasure of diving into some truly incredible featured rooms in Rec Room, and I have to say, the creativity on display this week was absolutely outstanding. From spooky furniture stores to cosy autumn retreats, there was something for everyone. Let’s take a look at everything I explored this week! First up this week is Zombie Cubes. As soon as you press play, the action kicks off immediately — no easing in here! The concept is straightforward and satisfying: you shoot zombie cubes that fall from the sky and try your best not to die. The low poly design aesthetic throughout the map is really cool, and the cubes constantly raining down from above gave me strong Fortnite Save the World vibes. It’s a very cool map overall, and given the level of detail, I’d imagine this one was built in studio because I honestly can’t picture pulling something like this off with just a maker pen. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of fast-paced, action-style rooms. Next up is Whispering Forest, and wow — this one genuinely blew me away. From the moment you load in, you’re greeted with an absolutely stunning environment, and what makes it even more impressive is that it appears to have been made entirely with the maker pen. The level of detail is extraordinary — you’ve got beautifully crafted shrubs, a reflective water source, a sun, clouds, and scenic touches absolutely everywhere you look. Honestly, this one gets a solid 10 out of 10 for creativity. It’s just such an awesome room and a fantastic example of what talented creators can achieve in Rec Room. The next featured room is a clicking-style game, and it’s a really unique one at that. When you load in, you’re presented with an updated system where you click a button to receive some kind of item, and there’s also a little spinning mechanic with the ability to auto-roll by spending in-game currency. The sound effects and animations are super satisfying, and it’s clear that studio has been used to bring this animated clicking experience to life in a way that really stands out on the platform. Click games are very popular in Rec Room, but this one feels fresh and well-crafted. There’s a shop where you can spend tokens to buy upgrades and various items, and tokens can be earned through gameplay or purchased directly. It’s honestly a very smart design from a creator standpoint, and while it’s clearly built with monetisation in mind, it genuinely is a fun and satisfying game to play. I have to take my hat off to that one! Moving on to 300 AR2 — this one is a really interesting and unique concept. Upon loading in, you’re greeted with what initially seems like a glitchy but intriguing environment, with a hunger bar, an energy bar, and a health bar to keep track of. As it turns out, this room is set inside an unusually large furniture store, and it carries a very spooky, dystopian atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel oddly thrilling. There are random parts of buildings scattered around, office spaces to explore, and even interactive furniture you can pick up and carry around — which makes complete sense given the setting. I stumbled across a coffee machine at one point and spent a good moment wondering if it could restore my hunger or energy! Honestly, I need to spend more time in this one to fully understand all the mechanics, but as a creative concept it is genuinely impressive. Very cool room. Next up is Autumn Loaf, and I have to say — I absolutely love this room. It’s by Space Inks, who is actually someone I’ve met quite a few times and I’d consider a good friend. The attention to detail in this room is just incredible. There’s a beautiful story element introduced through a letter that reads: “My new house has a beautiful view of the lake and the town from Alpine Haven.” You also have little cameras, photos, notebooks, and a charming little character all placed thoughtfully throughout the space. One of the standout features is the ability to toggle between rainy and sunny weather, which completely transforms the atmosphere of the room. The only tiny piece of feedback I’d offer is that some of the posters are a little bright, but honestly that’s such a minor point in an otherwise breathtaking room. Definitely go check out Space Inks if you haven’t already — the talent is real! Last but absolutely not least this week is Cat Cafe, and honestly — I love this one. From the moment you walk up, you’re greeted with a beautiful water feature, a stunning sun, and a really charming building exterior. Stepping inside, there’s a cute welcome sign featuring an adorable cat made entirely with the maker pen, lovely window designs that reminded me of Minecraft textures, and some gorgeous floral arrangements that honestly reminded me of poppies — very Australian of me, I know! The chairs, the outdoor patio, the views — everything about this room is so well put together. The plants and flowers in particular are incredibly detailed and really elevate the whole aesthetic. I’m so glad I checked this one out, it’s a wonderful room. And that’s it for this week’s featured Rec Room creations! There were honestly so many more rooms I wanted to explore, so if you’d like to see me dive into the rest of this week’s featured rooms, please make sure to leave a like, subscribe, and drop a comment letting me know you want to see more. I’ll be checking out a few more rooms every week whenever there’s a featured update, so stay tuned for that.
