Jumping Into The World Of Minecraft VR

Video Summary

I’m starting a brand new Minecraft Survival series in VR and I’m really excited to experience the game in this immersive way. I spawned next to a village where I met some interesting NPCs like Daryl the villager and Bernard upstairs, and I’ve been setting up a base camp in their house while gathering resources like wood, food, and glowberries. Next episode I plan to go mining to get better tools so I can progress further in this VR adventure.

Welcome to Minecraft VR Survival!

Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap and welcome back to another video! Today I’m jumping into something incredibly exciting — Minecraft VR Survival. This is the start of a brand new series where I’ll be playing Minecraft Survival entirely inside VR, and I honestly couldn’t be more pumped to get into it. I’ve only tried Minecraft VR once before, but this time I’m going in properly and giving it everything I’ve got.

An Interesting Spawn — Cows, Villagers and a Pillager Post

Right from the very first moment, things got wild. I spawned next to what looked like a village, and the very first thing I noticed was a cow — and let me tell you, in VR, that cow is absolutely massive. I know it sounds like a normal Minecraft cow, but when you’re standing right next to one in virtual reality, it’s nearly as tall as you are. It’s a completely different experience. Shortly after getting my bearings, I discovered I had also spawned dangerously close to a Pillager post, which made things a little more exciting than I was ready for!

I’ve also installed a mod that allows custom structures to generate in the world, so the spawn area had some really interesting builds to explore. One of those was a villager’s house, which I may have… let myself into rather enthusiastically. The villager inside — who I lovingly named Daryl — was not exactly thrilled about a VR player barging through his door, but he was kind enough to let me stay. Sorry Daryl.

Getting Wood, Crafting Tools and Meeting the Neighbours

With a Pillager lurking nearby, I wasn’t keen on heading outside without any tools, so I made the executive decision to gather wood from inside the village — yes, that means I did partially dismantle Daryl’s house. I apologise, Daryl. One of the wildest parts of playing in VR is that punching trees is a real physical action. You genuinely have to keep swinging your arms over and over to break blocks, and I can already tell this is going to be a solid workout. It’s honestly kind of satisfying though, watching the blocks come apart right in front of you.

Once I had enough wood, I found a crafting table nearby and got to work crafting an axe to make the whole process a bit quicker. The crafting book feature made things so much easier — being able to just select recipes visually in VR is a really nice touch. I also noticed I had a Seasons mod installed, featuring Summer and Autumn, which I honestly didn’t fully plan for — I downloaded a few mods somewhat blindly — but it adds a really cool layer to the world.

Food, Hay Bales and 31 Loaves of Bread

With tools sorted, the next priority was food. I spotted some hay bales nearby and went to harvest them, which led to one of the funniest moments so far — I actually had to physically jump in real life to get up to the hay. In VR, if you want to jump in-game, you jump for real. It’s absolutely nuts and honestly one of the most immersive things about the whole experience. After gathering the hay and bringing it back to the crafting table, I managed to craft a very respectable 31 loaves of bread. Not a bad start at all.

Exploring the Village and Meeting Bernard

While getting settled in, I decided to have a proper explore of the village building I’d made my temporary home. Upstairs I discovered another villager — this one with what appeared to be a monocle on his face, which immediately gave him an air of sophistication. His name is now Bernard. Bernard was having a sleep when I stumbled in, and I may have accidentally woken him up. Sorry Bernard. I’ve since locked him in upstairs for safekeeping, which I’m sure he appreciates.

During the explore I also found glowberries, which turned out to be one of the coolest little discoveries of the episode. Not only are they useful, but if you hold them in your off hand they actually light up the area around you. Having a natural light source in your hand while wandering around in VR is such a great touch — it really adds to the immersion.

Setting Up and Planning Ahead

By this point, night was creeping in and there were Pillagers lurking around outside, so I made the sensible call to stay put and start turning the space into a proper base. There’s a large area downstairs with plenty of room to move around, and I’ve started clearing it out to make it more functional. One thing I keep noticing is just how large everything feels in VR — the staircase is about half my height, a single block is roughly the size of my head when I place it, and the scale of it all just makes the world feel genuinely alive in a way that flat Minecraft doesn’t quite capture.

As for what’s coming next — the plan for the next episode is to head underground and get into some proper mining. I’m still running on wood tools and glowberries, which is not exactly the strongest setup, so upgrading gear is the top priority. Bernard and Daryl are settled in, the base is taking shape, and I’m really excited to see where this series goes. There are sure to be plenty more characters to meet and adventures to stumble into along the way.
