How To GET and Use Light Blocks in BEDROCK Minecraft

Video Summary

In this video, I demonstrate how to obtain and use Light Blocks in Minecraft Bedrock Edition using the command “/give @s light_block”. I show how Light Blocks can be placed to illuminate areas without visible light sources like torches, and explain that they behave similarly to barrier blocks, disappearing when moved away. This feature is useful for creating invisible lighting solutions in builds like the temple structure I featured in the video.

What Are Light Blocks?

To demonstrate how light blocks work, imagine being inside a temple with no torches placed anywhere. Normally it would be completely dark, but with light blocks, the entire area can be fully lit up without a single torch in sight. By breaking the light blocks, the area goes dark instantly, and by placing them back and increasing their value, the whole space gets brighter and brighter. It’s a really powerful and clean way to add lighting to any build!

How To Get a Light Block in Bedrock Edition

The command used in Bedrock Edition is similar to Java Edition but slightly different. To get yourself a light block, open your chat and enter the following command:

/give @s light_block

You can replace @s with your own player name if you prefer. Once you hit enter, you will be given a light block with a score of zero. From there, you can place as many as you like to light up your space.

How Do Light Blocks Behave?

Light blocks behave similarly to a barrier block in the sense that they are invisible once placed. One important thing to note is that as soon as you move a light block away from its placed position, it disappears, so keep that in mind when building. Despite this, they are incredibly useful for creating clean, torch-free lighting in your builds.

Final Thoughts

Light blocks are a fantastic tool for anyone looking to add seamless, invisible lighting to their Minecraft Bedrock builds. Whether you’re lighting up a temple, a custom map, or any creative project, light blocks give you full control over your lighting without cluttering your build with torches or glowstone. Give it a try and see how much cleaner your builds can look!
