How to Get and Use Light Blocks in Minecraft Java Edition 1.20

In my last video, I showed you how to get all of those super secret paintings in Minecraft Java Edition, and today I’m going to be showing you how to get the super secret Light Block in the new 1.20 update for Minecraft Java Edition!

Why Light Blocks Are So Useful

Light Blocks are such a cool addition to Minecraft. Before this update, it took a long time to actually get a Light Block, but now with the super simple Operator Utilities tab that you can enable, you can simply grab all of the Light Blocks whenever you want. If you are a builder, these are an absolute game changer — they light up everything around them invisibly, meaning you can illuminate your builds without any visible light source getting in the way!

How to Enable the Operator Utilities Tab

First, while you are in-game on Java Edition, hit Escape to open the menu. From there, head into Options, then Controls, and make sure that the Operator Items Tab is turned on. Once you have done this, head back into your Creative inventory and you will notice the Operator Utilities tab has appeared. Inside, you will find all of the different Light Blocks available for you to use whenever you like!

Experimenting with Light Blocks

One really interesting thing I discovered while playing around with Light Blocks is that you can actually change the lighting level for each individual block — and they can get brighter too! Each Light Block has a different light level value, giving you incredible control over how you light up your builds. It is such a fun feature to experiment with and opens up so many creative possibilities for builders.
