How To Get & Use The Debug Stick In Minecraft!

Video Summary
In this video I show how to get and use the Debug Stick in Minecraft, including what it does and how it changes block attributes. In Java Edition, you can left-click to select a block property and right-click to cycle its state, and I demonstrate it on blocks like stairs. I also show the command to obtain it: /give @s debug_stick. Then I switch to Bedrock Edition to confirm the Debug Stick isn’t available there and explain it’s Java-only due to different debugging tools and coding.

Hello everybody, it’s Anime Cap, and welcome back to another video. Today, I’m going to show you how to get a Debug Stick in both Java and Bedrock Edition. Let’s get started.

Java Edition: What the Debug Stick Does

As you can see, I’m currently in Java Edition, and I have a Debug Stick right in front of me.

The Debug Stick lets you select different attributes of certain blocks (like stairs). If you left-click a block, you can cycle through the available attributes. If you right-click, you can change the value of the currently selected attribute.

For example, with stairs, you can change the direction they’re facing. I’m right-clicking here, and you can see the direction changing. There are lots of blocks and attributes you can experiment with, so feel free to try different combinations.

Java Edition: How to Get the Debug Stick

Before we get to the command, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe—it would be greatly appreciated and helps the channel out a lot.

To get the Debug Stick in Java Edition, type the following command:

/give @s minecraft:debug_stick

Then hit Enter. You’ll see that you’ve been given a Debug Stick. It works just like the one I demonstrated earlier—you can select attributes with left-click and change them with right-click.

With that done, let’s head over to Bedrock Edition.

Bedrock Edition: Can You Get the Debug Stick?

I’m currently in Bedrock Edition, and unfortunately, you cannot get a Debug Stick here.

If you try the command that would normally make sense:

/give @s debug_stick

It won’t work. You’ll see that the item doesn’t exist in Bedrock Edition.

Why It Doesn’t Work in Bedrock Edition

The reason the Debug Stick isn’t available in Bedrock Edition is because it was designed specifically for Java Edition as a debugging tool. Bedrock Edition is built differently and uses different systems for debugging due to being coded in a different language. It’s unfortunate, because the Debug Stick would be extremely useful in Bedrock.

Conclusion

Sorry it’s not available on Bedrock, but at least now you know how it works and how to get it in Java Edition.
