Video Summary
In this video, I’m showing you how to get and use the Jigsaw Block in Minecraft Java Edition by using the command /give @s jigsaw_block. I demonstrate how to use this block to generate village structures like streets and houses by configuring the target pool, name, and target name settings, then using the generate button with different levels to create anything from small villages to massive ones. The Jigsaw Block is an incredibly versatile creative tool that lets you procedurally generate complex structures, though unfortunately it doesn’t work on Bedrock Edition.

In the top Target Pool section, type in Moving on to the next part: for Name, type in You’ll notice that some of the blocks point sideways, and some appear in the floor as well — these are simply decorations and houses. What Is The Jigsaw Block?
/give @s jigsaw and hit enter, and it will be added to your inventory. To best demonstrate just how easy and cool these are, I headed over to a super flat world to show you how its generation works.
Generating a Village With The Jigsaw Block
village and treat this almost like a file explorer. You want to go inside the villager folder and then navigate into plains. You can change this to whatever biome you like — Spruce, Taiga, and all of the other biomes are available — but I’m simply going to do plains because that’s the simplest, and then select streets. If you want to generate houses instead, you can simply remove the streets section and replace it with houses, but for now I’m sticking with streets.street, and for Target Name, also type in street. For the Turns Into field, we’re going to keep it as air for now because we just don’t want it turning into anything else. Once that’s all set, you’ll notice there are a bunch of buttons at the bottom, including Rollable Levels, Keep Jigsaw, and Generate. The levels setting is really cool — if you want a smaller village with lots of little roads, you would choose something between level one and two, but if you want a massive village, go for level seven. I went with level seven, hit generate, and wow — the Jigsaw Block generated a whole bunch of paths! You’ll notice there are a whole ton of Jigsaw Blocks scattered everywhere, and trust me, that is completely okay.
Generating Houses With The Jigsaw Block
houses/building_entrance. If you want to go ahead and generate that house, all you have to do is select a level and hit generate, and it will actually build a house right there. If you want to generate a house using your own Jigsaw Block, do not worry — simply place a block and copy the settings identically, making sure that the arrow is pointing sideways (you can’t point it upwards or downwards). Set it to level seven, hit generate, and you will have generated a huge villager house that is actually functional with all of its usual stuff inside!
