How To Speed Up Time In Minecraft! (Faster Days Tutorial)

Video Summary

In this tutorial, I show you how to speed up the passage of time in Minecraft using command blocks and the /time add command. By placing a command block on repeat with the /time add 1 t command, you can make days progress much faster than normal, and you can adjust the speed by changing the numbers or using different time units like seconds or days. I also demonstrate how to disable command block output in chat to keep your screen clean while the effect is active.

How To Speed Up Time In Minecraft! (Faster Days Tutorial)

Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap and welcome back to another video! Today I’m going to be showing you how to make days in Minecraft go so much quicker. If you’d prefer to follow along visually, you can watch the full video here. As you’ll see, the sun actually moves a lot faster once we set this up, so without further ado, let’s get straight into it!

Step 1: Getting a Command Block

The first thing you’ll need is a command block. To get one, you’ll need to use the command terminal. Open up your chat and type in the following command:

/give @s command_block

The @s refers to yourself, but you can replace it with any player’s name if you’d like to give the command block to someone else. If you’re on Bedrock Edition, you’ll need to type this out manually as autofill may not be available, but that’s perfectly fine. Once you hit enter, the command block will be added to your inventory and you’re ready to move on to the next step!

Step 2: Setting Up the Time Command

Now that you have your command block, go ahead and place it down and open up its terminal. This is really the heart of the tutorial and the great news is it only takes one simple command. Inside the command block, type in the following:

/time add 1t

When using the time add command, you’ll notice there are a few options available. d stands for day, s stands for seconds, and t stands for a tick. For this tutorial we’re using t (tick) to gradually speed up the day cycle. Make sure there are no spaces at the front of the command, as that can sometimes cause a few issues.

Once you’ve entered the command, set the command block to Repeat and Always Active. You’ll notice the sun begins moving a little faster than normal right away. If you want to exaggerate the effect even further, you can increase the value — for example, using 10t will make the sun move extremely fast, really speeding up the day cycle in a dramatic way!

Stopping the Chat Spam

You might notice that your chat starts filling up with messages from the command block running on repeat. To turn that off and keep things clean, head back into your chat or command terminal and type the following:

/gamerule commandBlockOutput false

Once you’ve done that, the command will stop spamming your chat completely. Much better! You’ll now be able to watch the day cycle speed up without any distractions.

Watching It in Action

With everything set up, you’ll be able to watch the sun move quickly across the sky, transitioning into a beautiful sunset and then into night time in no time at all. It almost looks like a stop motion film! It’s worth noting that if you have full bright enabled on your Minecraft client, everything will appear a little brighter than usual, but the sped-up day and night cycle will be clearly visible regardless.

Wrapping Up

And that’s it — that’s the full command in a nutshell! Speeding up time in Minecraft is incredibly simple and only requires one command block and one command. Whether you want a subtle speed-up or a super fast day cycle, you can easily adjust the value in the /time add command to suit your needs. I hope you found this tutorial helpful!
