✔️ Minecraft New Jigsaw Block Tutorial and Minecraft Jigsaw Village Generation ✔️ ( Hidden Block )
Video Summary
In this video I show off the hidden Jigsaw Block I found and explain what it is and why it looks so confusing at first. I demonstrate how to get it with /give (search “jigsaw”) and how to place it correctly so the arrow points into a block. Then I walk through using its settings to generate village streets, decorations like lamps and flowers, and different sizes of village houses. I also mention it’s buggy right now since the structure blocks don’t disappear, but it’s still a powerful way to build custom villages.
Formatted Transcript
Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap, and welcome back to another video. Today I’m going to be talking about a very weird block. I don’t even know how I discovered it, but it’s called the Jigsaw Block.
This block is strange at first glance. I was scrolling through the Minecraft block list while trying to come up with video ideas, and I found it. I remember thinking: What is this? You can place it down, it has arrows on it, and it’s covered in jigsaw-like lines. It’s confusing—until you realize it’s actually a really useful tool.
Before we get into it, please make sure to subscribe and leave a like if you enjoy the content. I’m trying to upload more consistently, and your support really helps. Also, feel free to comment video suggestions—I’m running out of ideas. I like making command videos, discovering new blocks, and more. My socials are in the description.
What the Jigsaw Block Looks Like
This is what the block looks like: it has arrows on it, and you can place it in different orientations. The design is full of lines and markings, which is part of what makes it look so confusing at first.
How to Get the Jigsaw Block
To get the block, use the /give command.
Type:
/give <your_username> jigsaw
After you press Enter, you’ll receive the block. It’s a bit buggy at the moment and could use some fixing, but it still works and can do some really cool things.
How to Use the Jigsaw Block (Village Path Generation)
To use it, place it down like a normal block. If you want to generate village paths, you’ll need to configure the block’s settings.
For example, to generate a village path for a Plains village, change the target from Empty to something like:
village/plains/streets
Then press Done. At first, it might look like nothing happened—that’s because you may not have placed the block correctly, or you may not have triggered generation properly.
Important Placement Tip
I discovered an issue while testing: you can’t just place the block upright and expect it to work. You need to place it against another block so that the arrow is pointing outward in the direction you want the generation to go. Once the arrow is facing the right way, the block can generate structures in that direction.
After placing it correctly and generating, you’ll see it create a messy-looking path area with flowers, path blocks, and other details. The extra pieces around the path are decoration points—things like lights, flowers, and trees.
Generation Levels
There are different levels (numbers) you can choose—roughly from 0 up to the high 20s. These levels affect how the generation behaves, including what kinds of structures appear. Some values may result in small features, while others may generate larger features or different decoration types.
For example, changing the level and generating can produce different decorations:
- One setting might generate more flowers.
- Another might generate a lamp post.
- Others may vary the decorative layout.
This is essentially how real village generation works in Minecraft—just without all the visible “helper blocks” scattered everywhere.
Generating Houses (Village Buildings)
Next up is generating buildings. You’ll notice that house generation uses a similar format, with connected pieces that attach to the paths.
Once you select the building-type configuration and generate, you’ll see houses appear next to the paths. Some of them can be massive. You can walk inside, go up stairs, and explore like a normal village house.
When you generate multiple times with different settings, it creates a variety of houses—the same ones you’d normally see as part of a village.
Current Issues / Bugs
One issue in this version is that the structure-related blocks don’t disappear afterward. Also, it doesn’t automatically generate an entire village in one go the way it normally would behind the scenes. Instead, you’re manually triggering different pieces.
Extending the Village
You can keep generating more streets and paths to extend the village as far as you want, then add more houses and decorations as you go. This makes it possible to build a much longer village layout manually.
Wrapping Up
Thank you so much for watching this video about the Jigsaw Block. If you enjoyed it, please leave a like and subscribe if you’re new. I’m open to a bunch of new ideas, so if you have suggestions for what I should do next, leave them in the comments.
Don’t forget my socials are in the description, along with my new website and blog where I post step-by-step tutorials on Minecraft commands. Hopefully, I’ll have one about this block too—if I have enough time to make it.
Thanks again for watching, and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye!
