How To Install Minecraft Texture Packs and Resource Packs – Step By Step Tutorial

Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap and welcome back to another video! Today I’m going to be showing you how to use custom resource packs in Minecraft. The great news is that this method will also work in future versions of Minecraft, so you’re covered going forward.

What You’ll Need

First of all, you’ll want to have a custom resource pack ready to go. For this tutorial, I’ve chosen the classic PureBDCraft pack — it’s a really simple one and while it may not be fully updated, it still works perfectly as an example. Any resource pack you choose will follow the same process, so feel free to use whichever one you like.

Step 1 – Open Resource Pack Settings

Head into Minecraft and navigate to Options, then select Resource Packs. Here you’ll be able to see all of your currently available resource packs. You’ll also notice the default Minecraft texture is already selected, which is just the normal Minecraft look. From this screen, click on Open Folder — this is where all of your resource pack files need to be placed.

Step 2 – Add Your Resource Pack to the Folder

Once the resource pack folder is open, simply drag and drop your resource pack file into that folder. As you can see in the tutorial, PureBDCraft now appears right there in the folder. It’s really that straightforward!

Step 3 – Load the Resource Pack in Minecraft

Now head back into Minecraft and you should notice your new resource pack has popped up in the list — which is great! Sometimes it may not appear straight away, and if that happens, all you need to do is click Done, then navigate back to your Resource Packs and it should show up. From there, simply transfer it over to your selected packs, click Done, and your new textures will be loaded in. And just like that, your Minecraft world is now running with your chosen texture pack!
