How To Install Minecraft Texture Packs and Resource Packs In Minecraft. Step By Step Tutorial!

Video Summary
In this video, I show you how to install and use custom Minecraft resource/texture packs (including future versions like 1.17). I walk you through going to Options > Resource Packs, clicking “Open Pack Folder,” and dragging your downloaded pack into that folder. If it doesn’t appear right away, I explain how clicking “Done” and reopening Resource Packs will make it show up so you can activate it and see the new textures in-game.

Hey everyone, it’s Under My Cap. In this post, I’m going to show you how to install and use custom resource packs in Minecraft. This method works for current and future versions, including 1.17 and beyond.

Step 1: Download a Resource Pack

First, you’ll need a resource pack you want to use. For this example, I’m using a classic one: Sphax PureBDCraft. It’s a simple pack—mine isn’t fully updated—but it still works.

Step 2: Open the Resource Packs Menu

In Minecraft, go to:

OptionsResource Packs

You’ll likely see some resource packs already listed there, along with the default pack (which is the normal Minecraft textures).

Step 3: Open the Resource Packs Folder

Click Open Pack Folder. This opens the folder where your resource pack files need to be placed.

Step 4: Add the Resource Pack File

Take your resource pack file (usually a .zip) and drag it into the folder you just opened.

Once it’s in the folder, you should see it appear in the Resource Packs list inside Minecraft.

What to Do If the Pack Doesn’t Show Up

Sometimes the pack won’t appear immediately. If that happens:

Click Done, then go back into OptionsResource Packs again. The pack should show up after reopening the menu.

Step 5: Apply the Pack

Once the pack appears, select it and apply it, then click Done.

If everything worked correctly, your textures will update right away, and you’ll see the new resource pack in-game.

That’s the simplest way to install and use a texture pack (resource pack) in Minecraft.
