Video Summary
In this comprehensive video, I showcase every single particle command available in Minecraft Java Edition, demonstrating what each particle looks like and how it behaves in-game. From basic particles like ambient entity effect to more complex ones like vibration and spore blossom air, I cover all current particles in alphabetical order to help viewers find and understand each effect. I also explain unique features of certain particles, such as those with sound effects, interactive properties, and particles added in recent updates like the Nether Update and Caves and Cliffs Update.

Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap and welcome back to another video! Today I’m going to be showing you literally every single particle in the game Minecraft. As you can see in the video behind me, there are so many — it took me forever to make — but without further ado, let’s get straight into it! If you’d prefer to watch the full video, you can check it out here: Every Working Particle Command In Minecraft! All Particles For Bedrock and Java! Please note all particles shown are on Java Edition. If you’d like me to do a Bedrock Edition version (which covers consoles and tablets), please let me know in the comments below — I’d be happy to make one! The first particle we have is Ambient Entity Effect. This is the basic particle command and gives a nice ambient glow effect around entities. Next up is the Angry Villager particle — a pretty cool one that you’ll recognise from interacting with villagers in the wrong way! This one was added in the Nether Update and is honestly one of my personal favourites just because of how cool it looks. These ones are special — the Bubble particles actually require water, otherwise they’ll pop straight away. There are a few variants here including Bubble Column Up, which is what you see when using soul sand or magma blocks underwater, and Bubble Pop, which pretty obviously shows a bubble popping. This one is really cool — if you add a speed value to it, it will float up a bit higher. There is also Campfire Signal Smoke, which works the same way but lasts a lot longer. That’s the particle you see when you place a hay bale underneath a campfire. The Cloud particle is really interesting because players are actually able to interact with it. If you step into it, the particles kind of all float down around you — it’s a neat effect to play around with. The Composter particle is a green one that looks kind of like the positive villager particle but a little nicer in appearance. Also added in the Nether Update, the Crimson Spore particle is really cool because it kind of spreads out everywhere, and this is just using the very basic command with no speed edits. The Crit particle is what you see when you land a critical hit on something. It’s a fairly basic particle but a recognisable one. Similar to the other bubble particles, Current Down would need water to display properly — in water, it would travel downward. The Damage Indicator particle looks really cool — it shoots off quickly and then slows down, giving a great visual effect for taking damage. The Dolphin particle has a slow blue appearance — not the most dramatic particle but it fits the theme of dolphins nicely. The Dragon Breath particle is what you see when the Ender Dragon breathes onto the floor — the same substance you scoop up for brewing potions. If you add speed to it, it spreads out everywhere, but keeping it in one spot lets you appreciate it better. This is a mouthful but a really unique particle added in a recent update! What makes the Dripping Drip Stone Lava particle special is that it actually produces a sound effect — you can hear a bubbly kind of noise, making it one of the first particles with a sound attached to it. This works in the same way as the lava version except with water dripping, producing a nice higher-pitched sound effect. The Dripping Honey particle came out with the bees update and drips out of beehives. It also has its own unique sound that is slightly different from the drip stone variants. The standard Dripping Lava particle does not have a sound effect attached to it, which is the clear difference between this and the Dripping Drip Stone Lava version. This comes from crying obsidian and takes a lot longer to display than the other dripping particles, but it produces a lovely particle effect. The standard Dripping Water particle has no sound effect at all, which distinguishes it from the Dripping Drip Stone Water version. The Effect particle has a colour effect to it and can actually change colour depending on the speed value you apply — this ties in with potion effects. I have a separate video explaining this in more detail! This one is best viewed on impulse rather than repeat because on repeat it looks quite trippy! The interesting thing about the Elder Guardian particle is that it’s attached to your vision — if you walk around, the particle kind of stays in your field of view, which makes for a very disorienting experience. The Electric Sparks particle is what happens when lightning strikes an end rod — it emits this little spark effect which looks great. The Enchantment Table particle is the glyphs and symbols you see floating around an enchanting table. This is what happens when you hit a mob or player with an enchanted sword, and honestly it is one of my favourites purely because of how cool the colour looks. The End Rod particle is also one of my favourites — when you speed it up it creates a really beautiful pattern that looks absolutely fantastic. Similar to the potion effect particle but attached to a mob, the Entity Effect particle will change colour depending on what effect the mob has. You can also adjust the colour with speed values. Quick warning — these ones are flashy! If you are sensitive to flashing lights, please be aware. The Explosion particle creates a really cool explosion effect, and the Explosion Emitter is a massive particle that likely comes from TNT — it is extremely intense on repeat! There are several falling variants that all follow a similar pattern: Falling Drip Stone Lava, Falling Drip Stone Water, Falling Honey, Falling Lava, Falling Nectar, Falling Obsidian Tear, and Falling Spore Blossom. The Falling Spore Blossom is a newer particle added in the Caves and Cliffs update, coming from the spore blossom flower that you can place on ceilings. The Firework particle is exactly what you’d expect — it’s the trail that comes out of a firework when you shoot one off. The Fishing particle looks like a flickering effect on the water and is what you see while fishing. The Flame particle is one of the cooler ones — it just looks really great especially when you play around with speed values. Another flashy warning here! The Flash particle produces a lot of flashing, so just be aware of that if you plan to use it. This is honestly one of my absolute favourite particles. The Glow particle comes from the glow squid and there is just something about it that looks incredibly cool. I cannot quite explain it — it is just a beautiful particle. The Glow Squid Ink is what comes out of a glow squid when you attack it, and it is also interactive in the water. The Happy Villager particle is the green floating particle you see around a happy villager. It stays visible for longer than the composter particle but uses the same visual style. The Heart particle is probably the most well-known Minecraft particle — you will see it on countless video thumbnails, including my first particle video! The Instant Effect particle is tied to instant potions and produces a unique visual effect. The item particles like Item Slime and Item Snowball allow you to add a variety of different items to them — they all work in a similar way and can be customised quite extensively. Similar to the falling variants, there are landing versions including Landing Honey, Landing Lava, and Landing Obsidian Tear, which represent the moment those dripping particles hit the ground. The Large Smoke particle goes quite high and is likely associated with a blaze mob given the height it reaches. The Lava particle is a really cool spitting effect — interestingly, it does not actually have a sound attached to it. The Mycelium particle is a really cool one associated with the mycelium block. The Nautilus particle is associated with nautilus shells and conduit power in the game. The Note particle is a popular one — it starts out green but changes colour as you adjust the speed value. Adding speed creates a lovely rainbow of musical note colours which looks really impressive. The Poof particle has a smoke-like appearance and is a nice subtle effect. The Portal particle is a famous one that comes from the Nether portal. One interesting thing about it is that it does not start where you place the command — it actually starts about a block away and slowly travels toward the centre. There is also a Reverse Portal variant that does the opposite, starting in the middle and moving outward. The Rain particle is what you see falling during a rain weather event in the game. The Scrape particle appears when you scrape a copper block — it has a faded look somewhat similar to the villager particles. The Small Flame particle is believed to have been added for candles — it is simply a smaller version of the regular flame particle. The Smoke particle is a smaller version of the large smoke we saw earlier. The Sneeze particle comes from a llama and is also interactive — if you walk into it, it gets pushed away! I recently made a whole dedicated video on the Snowflake particle — it is a really cool one and well worth checking out if you are subscribed! The Soul particle comes from a soul sand block when you are walking on it with Soul Speed boots. It is a really pretty effect. The Soul Fire Flame is also really cool — it is essentially a blue variant of the regular red flame particle. The Spit particle also comes from a llama — Mojang certainly added quite a few particles specifically for llamas! The Splash particle is believed to appear when a boat enters the water. This is a very interesting particle because it stays active for a very long time after spawning. It also comes from the spore blossom plant added to the game. If you follow the particle downward, you can see it lingers in the air for quite a while — it is a lovely ambient effect. The standard Squid Ink particle is the default ink effect from squids in the game. The Sweep Attack particle is what you see when you perform a sweep attack with a sword — it looks really satisfying in action. The Totem of Undying particle is a really cool one — it has a heavier feel to it and falls down quite fast, which makes it stand out from many of the other particles. The Underwater particle has a similar appearance to the dolphin particle with a blue hue — it is a subtle ambient effect. This is a very interesting one added in the 1.18 update. The Vibration particle is tied to the sculk sensor sound and vibration mechanic. It works quite differently from other particles and I am planning to do a whole dedicated video on how to use it because the mechanic it introduces is genuinely fascinating. The Warped Spore particle looks really, really cool. It has a beautiful ethereal appearance that stands out nicely. Wax Off is the particle you see when removing wax from a copper block, and Wax On is what appears when applying honeycomb wax to a copper block. The White Ash particle is a variant of the ash particle. One cool thing about it is that it actually drifts to the left, which may or may not be intentional but looks really unique. And finally, the last particle is the Witch particle — a cool purplish mob effect-style particle that rounds off the full list perfectly! And that is every single particle currently in Minecraft Java Edition! There are a few I could not quite figure out how to use — including a falling sand variant — so if you know how to get those working, please drop a comment and let me know, it would be greatly appreciated! This video took an incredibly long time to put together and I am very sorry for the break I had between videos — life got very busy! But now that I am on holidays, I am excited to be making a whole bunch more content for you all. If you enjoyed this, make sure you leave a like and subscribe so you do not miss anything coming up. Thank you so much and I cannot wait to see you in the next one! Watch the full video here: Every Working Particle Command In Minecraft! All Particles For Bedrock and Java!
