In my last video, I showed you how to get all of the super-secret paintings in Minecraft: Java Edition. Today, I’m going to show you how to get the super-secret Light Block in the new Minecraft Java Edition 1.20 update.

This is such a cool addition because, before, it took a long time to actually get the Light Block. Now, with the super-simple “Operator Items” tab that you can enable, you can grab Light Blocks whenever you want.

Why Light Blocks Are So Useful

The really cool thing about Light Blocks is that they can light up everything around you—even though the blocks themselves are invisible. For example, they’re lighting up the area behind me in this video. Technically, I don’t even need a visible light source there.

If you’re a builder, Light Blocks are incredibly useful because you can add lighting exactly where you want without changing the look of your build.

How to Enable the Operator Items Tab

To get started, press Escape (since you’re on Java Edition), then go to:

Options → Controls

From there, make sure the Operator Items Tab is turned on.

How to Get Light Blocks in Creative

Once you enable it, go back to your Creative inventory. You’ll see a new tab appear for you—the Operator Items tab.

Inside that tab, you’ll find all the different Light Blocks available, with different light levels to choose from.

If you place a Light Block set to 0, nothing happens (because it produces no light). But if you place higher levels, they’re super useful for lighting your builds.

You can also replace existing light sources and adjust lighting more precisely. It’s really cool being able to control the lighting level for each Light Block.

If you found this helpful, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe—and I’ll see you in the next video.
